The harmful environmental impact of our dependence on fossil fuel is there for all of us to witness. If we look at autos, that is where we can start to make modifications. In an attempt to address the problem with fuel emissions, auto makers are setting out to build more cars that will not harm the environment.

There are many different types of these environmentally friendly cars, the friendliest being a car that runs on battery. Since the vehicle is battery powered means doesn’t need for diesel or gasoline. Sounds excellent as it doesn’t require petrol, so you can save money and it’s eco-friendly which is terrific, but there is a downside. The auto engines themselves are somewhat restrictive right now but the cars are now available to customers. This means that you should recharge the battery after about 100 miles, so it doesn’t run very far on one run.

Consumers can as well look at another form of car, the hybrid car. Hybrid vehicles are eco friendly and they are both battery- and gas-powered. Allow me to explain how hybrids actually run. It is the power from the battery that is utilized first by the vehicle. The need for the fuel comes when more power is called for at a faster speed. The good thing about it using gasoline is that it recharges the battery automatically, meaning you don’t have to recharge it manually using an outside power source.

There is also another type of automobiles, called plug-in hybrids. They run much like the previous hybrid and are environmentally friendly. However, the regular hybrid car does not need to be recharged separately whereas this is not the case with the plug-in hybrid vehicle. As for fuel consumption, both hybrid car types tend to do better than your regular car.

Toyota has created a hybrid car, referred to as the Prius, that does more or less 50 miles per gallon, which is very nice. This hybrid from Toyota is among the best-selling and costs roughly $22,000. The Insight by Honda was the first of its kind to be sold and before Toyota made an entry in the hybrid market. The Honda Insight was not received in the same fashion as the Prius by Toyota but it opened the consumer market for hybrid vehicles. A multi-awarded hybrid car and priced at approximately $27,000 is the Ford Fusion Hybrid. It is seen by many as the best hybrid in the US. A car which is believed to produce no emissions whatsoever is the i-MiEV from Mitsubishi. Mitsubish became one of the firs automobile manufacturers to develop an electric automobile in Japan.

We are going to see ongoing development for this type of car and numerous options for buyers looking for cars that are friendly to the environment.
